This project involved the installation of over 40,000 LF of storm sewer piping ranging in size from 8” up to 72” diameter, and up to 40 feet deep. This project was done in order to replace existing drainage facilities and expand as required for the addition of new lanes of traffic, as well as a new underpass at the Balmoral interchange. This project also included the installation of a 12’ diameter storm water pumping station that was in excess of 50’ in depth. This incorporated mechanical piping installed by Trine Construction as well — truly a unique effort! Multiple auger bores under air traffic control facilities were also completed in conjunction with this project, as part of Trine’s contact with Lorig Construction Co.
The project culminated through coordination with the general contractor and the owner to facilitate a timely completion. Trine also worked directly with the F.A.A., O’Hare Airport, and multiple municipalities spanning the corridor of the project — which stretched from Irving Park Rd. on the south to Higgins Rd. on the north. This project started in 2014 and was completed recently to great success.
